Stranger Minecraft brings the world of Hawkins and the Upside Down into vanilla Minecraft with no mods needed. This comprehensive datapack lets you channel Eleven's devastating telekinetic abilities, open gates to the Upside Down that spread corruption across your world, battle terrifying Demogorgon boss monsters, and survive Vecna's deadly curse system. Every feature is crafted with custom sounds, particle effects, and mechanics that authentically recreate the show's most iconic moments while maintaining balanced gameplay.
The datapack includes two distinct psychic powers that cost health to use, simulating Eleven's nosebleeds. The Upside Down gate system creates a spreading infection that transforms terrain, spawns multiple Demogorgons in waves, and triggers permanent weather changes. Demogorgons are custom-built boss mobs with enhanced stats, equipment, and valuable loot drops. Vecna's curse mechanic randomly targets players with a 30-second countdown that combines darkness, slowness, and wither damage, forcing desperate survival gameplay. All systems work seamlessly in both singleplayer and multiplayer without any resource packs or external dependencies.

Eleven's Telekinesis
Channel Eleven's psychic abilities through two distinct powers, each with unique sounds, particles, and a health cost to simulate her iconic nosebleeds.
Mind Push
- Hold Carrot on a Stick and right-click
- Every mob within range gets launched into the air
- Purple energy blast with Warden sonic boom sound
- Costs half a heart per use
- 3-second cooldown
- Great for crowd control and emergency escapes
Mind Crush
- Hold Warped Fungus on a Stick and right-click
- Nearby mobs freeze in place and begin glowing
- Mobs get hurled into sky for devastating fall damage
- Warden roar mixed with Ender Dragon growl
- Dark particles swirl around you
- Costs a full heart per use
- 5-second cooldown
- Both powers consume health to simulate Eleven's nosebleeds from the show
- Mind Push is faster and cheaper - use for frequent combat situations
- Mind Crush is more powerful but costs more health and has longer cooldown
- Custom particle effects match the purple psychic energy from the series
- Sound design combines Warden and Ender Dragon audio for dramatic impact

The Upside Down
Drop the Gate Opener (Blaze Rod) on the ground to rip open a gate. A portal structure builds itself from crying obsidian, and the world around it starts to rot.
- Wave 1 (5-block radius): Grass turns to sculk, dirt to coarse dirt, stone to deepslate, leaves dissolve into nothing
- Wave 2 (15-block radius): Corruption spreads further, first Demogorgon crawls through the gate
- Wave 3 (25-block radius): Torches burn with soul fire, two more Demogorgons spawn, wave repeats every 20 seconds
- Permanent thunderstorm rolls in and persists until gate is closed
- Players near the gate receive darkness aura effect
- Sculk particles and soul flames flicker around the portal constantly
- Terrain corruption is permanent - stays even after gate closes
- Creates atmospheric horror environment matching the show
- Break the Lodestone at the center of the gate structure
- All Demogorgons die instantly when gate closes
- Thunderstorm clears immediately
- Darkness effect lifts from all players
- Corrupted terrain remains as a permanent scar on your world
Demogorgons
These are not regular zombies. Demogorgons are enhanced boss mobs designed to be genuinely threatening encounters.
Stats and Abilities
- 40 HP (double zombie health)
- 8 damage per hit (quadruple zombie damage)
- Enhanced movement speed
- High knockback resistance
- Complete fire immunity
- Equipped with iron sword and netherite chestplate
Loot Drops
- Gold ingots (guaranteed)
- Ender pearls (guaranteed)
- Amethyst shards (guaranteed)
- Echo shards (rare drop)
- Blaze powder (rare drop)
- Worth the fight for valuable resources
- Use Eleven's Mind Push to create distance and avoid damage
- Mind Crush can eliminate Demogorgons instantly with fall damage
- Fire-based weapons are ineffective - use melee or projectiles
- High knockback resistance makes regular combat difficult
- Group spawning (3 total per gate) creates intense multi-target fights
- Close the gate quickly to prevent endless 20-second respawn waves
Vecna's Curse
Two minutes after a gate opens, Vecna picks a random player. You get 30 seconds to survive.
- Seconds 0-15: Darkness covers your screen, movement slows to a crawl, sculk soul particles swirl around you
- Seconds 15-30: Wither damage begins, Warden heartbeat sound gets progressively louder
- Countdown warnings: Screen messages flash at 20 seconds, 10 seconds, and 5 seconds remaining
- Time runs out: If you fail to escape, Vecna takes you (death)
- Your only escape is eating a Golden Apple during the 30-second window
- Golden Apple triggers totem animation - you are saved from the curse
- Curse can strike any player randomly when near an active gate
- Keep Golden Apples in hotbar when exploring the Upside Down
- Use /function stranger_minecraft:give_powers to get 3 Golden Apples to start
Installation and Commands

- Download the datapack file from the Google Drive link above
- Extract/unzip the downloaded folder
- Open your Minecraft folder: Press Win+R, type %appdata%\\.minecraft, press Enter
- Navigate to saves folder, then your world folder, then datapacks subfolder
- Place the extracted datapack folder into the datapacks directory
- Launch Minecraft and load your world, or type /reload in chat if already loaded
- Run /function stranger_minecraft:give_powers to get started
- Open gates away from your base - corruption is permanent
- Always carry Golden Apples when near active gates (Vecna protection)
- Use Mind Push frequently for mobility and crowd control
- Save Mind Crush for tough enemies or emergencies (high health cost)
- Close gates quickly to prevent endless Demogorgon spawns
- In multiplayer, coordinate gate openings to avoid overwhelming curse targeting
